NO GIBBS AT THE ALBION

West Bromwich Albion are no longer making a move for Arsenal star Kieran Gibbs this summer.

The left back has been linked with a move away from the Emirates but Coach Tony Pulis has declared that The Baggies would not be the destination. Pulis says the club are still hoping to add some players but Gibbs would not be among them.

Pulis added that Johnny Evans would continue in the role he played when the Albions faced the former team he coached Crystal Palace in a friendly recently. After 20 minutes in, the defender twisted his ankle but the coach has allayed fears over a possible injury.

The coach said Evans could have continued but that he opted to pull him out to avoid any problems. He says he wants to avoid any injury in the pre-season.

Palace won the game 2-0 but Coach Frank de Boer was not happy at the challenges West Brom made on winger WilfriedZaha.

It was supposed to be a warm up to the new season but it was quite heated as Nyom, Claudio Yacob, and Ahmed Hegazy roughed each other up as they moved to the tunnel. After the game De Boer spoke against the challenges made on his player.

Hegazy was praised for his efforts in the game. Pulis says the player is feeling at home at the club already. He is happy that the player speaks English and has settled in with his teammates rather quickly, though he adds that the team is set up that way.

“It’s not a difficult group to get in and feel comfortable in. There’s some good people in the group and they get on well together, so it’s not difficult for someone outside coming in and feeling a part of it.”
