Leicester City have been boosted by the return of key defender Jonny Evans from injury. The Northern Ireland international missed the start of the new season as a result of a troublesome foot injury.
Jonny Evans made his first appearance of the season at the weekend during the Premier League clash with defending champions Manchester City. The centre back came on for summer signing JannikVestergaard just after the hour mark and he was on the pitch when Manchester City scored the only goal of the game. The Northern Ireland vice-captain was just on the pitch when Portuguese international playmaker Bernardo Silva scored the winning goal on 62 minutes as the Citizens secured a 1-0 away win at the expense of Leicester City.
Just like what was obtainable with Jonny Evans, Danish international Vestergaard made his first appearance of the season following the injury that plagued him upon his £15m arrival from fellow Premier League team Southampton in the summer.
Both Evans and Vestergaard have been declared fit by Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of their tough Group C opener against Napoli in the Europa League this season. Rodgers gave the update on the two central defenders in his pre-match presser on Wednesday ahead of the game billed for the King Power Stadium on Thursday night. Rodgers would be looking to start the Europa League campaign for this season with a win at home at the expense of Luciano Spalletti and his Napoli players.
Leicester City and Napoli have slightly different league form ahead of their Europa League meeting
later this week. The Foxes are in the top half of the Premier League standings at the moment despite a return of six points from four games, while Napoli are in the top three on the Italian Serie A table after three wins from three games.
